Tech-Free Writers comes in all sizes, from all skill sets, generations, and occupations. The art we create might be as varied as the seasons, but despite our diversity, we share a few fundamental commonalities:
1. We are writers. It might not be all we do, but it is who we are.
Notice the “we.” Despite my day job, I count myself a writer. Crafting words into story and message is one of the most challenging, fulfilling, excruciating pleasures of my life. I just wish I had more time to invest in the art I love.
Which brings me to another common trait we share…
2. Very few writers are swimming in free time.
If we hope to carve out the hours necessary to thrive in our craft, we must be highly selective about how we invest our energy. Bottom line: we’re writers, so we need to be writing.
But, wait. Writing, on its own, is only one side of the dance…
3. Our writing needs readers.
Of the many ways to connect with readers, one of the most effective is an attractive, professional website. A website is your online home, a welcoming place where readers (or editors, one might hope) can drop by, put up their feet, and drink a refreshing glass of whatever you’re serving.
Problem is, very few writers also happen to be website designers, nor do they want to be. For some, it’s a matter of investing energy in the right place (writing). For others, there’s the intimidation factor of technology, and the learning curve required. Either way, many writers want a website—need a website—but…
4. Few writers have the time or energy to create a website worthy of their readers.
Enter the concept of Tech-Free Writer. This little brainchild owes its parentage to my local writers group, a multi-generational passel of committed wordsmiths. These folks do what all successful writers must do: they show up and write.
That’s their job, and I’ve made it my job to provide them (and you) with an affordable way to share their messages with the world.
Tech-Free Writer is about professional website design on a writer’s budget, but it’s also about becoming a market-savvy entrepreneur. Let’s get smart about branding, building a platform, and navigating social media. And while we’re at it, let’s figure out how to be “savvy” without losing our sanity.
If that sounds like a fit, consider subscribing to the blog and dropping me a line with suggested topics to explore. I’d love to hear from you, learn with you, and share our gifts together.
